Remote Usability Testing

The old homepage design was lacking direction and what the organization stood for.

I worked with the team lead and another UX Designer to analyze issues with the old design of the homepage and found multiple things that would need to be rethought and strategized for the redesign.

Here are the following issues me and the team were able to identify:

After analyzing the old website design and conducting usability testing the team and I reorganized the website content according to the organization’s goals and needs.

One of the organization’s main goals is to provide users with more understanding of its mission and what they do. One of the methods where we were able to reorganize the content was through card sorting, which helped us put in the framework of what the new information architect would look like.

The new information and content put an emphasis on the organization’s mission and what they stand for.

It was important that we put an emphasis on the organization’s mission and what they do as it was not well established in the previous designs. We decided to put the monument vision and about us pages first for the top navigation.

The main navigation leads to the three main sections of the website, which are the Monument Vision, About Us, and Get Involved.

The purple poppy represents the remembrance of animal victims of war. This includes animals like dogs, pigeons, and horses that were sent for war. Many feel that their service should be seen as equal to that of human service.

It was important for the organization to keep the purple color for the theme of the website as it represents the purple poppy.

The purple poppy is a symbol of the remembrance of animal victims of war. This includes animals like dogs, pigeons, and horses that served during wartime. Many feel that their service should be seen as equal to that of human service.

The main focus of the homepage redesign was to highlight the organization’s mission and goal.

In the following image, you can see the design details of the homepage redesign along with an explanation of the design decision on the right.

Important pages that were redesigned for the organization’s mission and business goals

The monument vision will help give an overview of what the organization plans are for the future and also go over the the different monument animals that will be in the park.

Service animals fall under three different categories: animals of distinction, service animals teams and service wonders.
